Unlock the Power of Integrated Data Insights
In an era where data drives strategy, organizations are increasingly turning to integrated data warehousing as a means to better understand their workforce health cost drivers. But what exactly is integrated data warehousing—and why does it matter?
What is Integrated Data Warehousing?
Integrated data warehousing refers to the process of collecting, organizing, and centralizing data from multiple systems—such as medical claims, pharmacy records, disability data, and HR platforms—into a single, unified repository. This allows for a person-centric view of data, enabling deeper analysis and more informed decision-making.
Unlike traditional databases that are optimized for transactions, integrated data warehouses are designed for reporting, advanced analytics, and deep learning. They support complex queries and trend analysis, making it easier to uncover patterns, identify risks, and evaluate program effectiveness.
What Sets Workpartners® Apart?
Our solutions aggregate and curate data across integrated benefits, offering a flexible, self-service platform with customizable views. We move clients from disparate data to actionable insights, supporting benefit design, targeted programs, and policy optimization.
Online Business Intelligence platform
Our Online Business Intelligence® (O|BI) tool’s easy-to-use functionality gives users the power and flexibility to customize reports and gain insights that will work for your clients. The tool provides dashboards with key performance indicators and drilldown capabilities that will serve all levels of users in your clients’ organizations.
If your clients have the right strategies in place—as well as the ability to quickly analyze data and identify areas to address—they have a very powerful tool to improve employee engagement and health.
Human Capital Risk Index
A cornerstone of our analytics is the Human Capital Risk Index (HUI®), a comprehensive, weighted risk score produced from integrated data sets. It’s predictive, person-centric, and correlates directly with health benefit costs, enabling advanced modeling and early alert indicators for brokers and their clients.
Built from Workpartners’ diverse Research Reference Database of about 500 million claims, the HUI takes into account details on lost time, medical and pharmacy claims, workers’ compensation, and HR compensation data to assess risk and predict high-risk and high-cost cases.
Knowing the HUI scores of an employee population allows us to:
- Identify future and current high-cost individuals. Our research has shown that 5 percent of an employer's population consumes 50 percent or more of all health benefit costs.
- Measure the quality and efficiency of medical providers while controlling for patient risk level.
- Assess the overall risk of a given population.
- Evaluate the success rate of intervention programs.
- Measure vendor network quality.
Predictive Analytics
Workpartners specializes in optimizing unique data to develop predictive models customized for your clients’ needs. We can significantly improve the accuracy and precision of models through the combination of integrated data and advanced data science techniques.
Common applications include predicting employee turnover, identifying high-cost health claimants, and improving engagement strategies. This approach transforms raw data into actionable insights, helping businesses reduce costs, enhance productivity, and deliver targeted interventions with measurable impact.

Executive Spotlight: Jennie R. Wheeler

As Associate Vice President of Integrated Analytics, Jennie R. Wheeler has been a driving force behind Workpartners’ evolution for over 20 years. Her passion for data and problem-solving led her to champion the integration of analytics across Workpartners’ service lines, helping unify programs and services to deliver a holistic view of workforce health and cost.
“When all of your data is integrated, you gain a holistic view of your workforce, population health opportunities, and total associated benefit costs,” said Jennie R. Wheeler. “My focus has been on helping organizations move beyond siloed views and embrace a truly integrated perspective of their workforce. By connecting insights across benefit programs, we empower leaders to understand the broader implications of their decisions—driving smarter strategies that optimize outcomes for both the business and its people.”
Q: What are the biggest challenges employers face in the workplace today?
A: Costs. Employers offer a wide range of benefits to attract and retain talent, but they often lack the tools to monitor performance and identify actionable opportunities. Data silos and competing priorities make it difficult to see the full picture. Employee health is just one piece of the puzzle. To uncover hidden risks and drive meaningful outcomes, employers need to consider motivation, productivity, workplace conditions, and social factors that influence both health and performance.
Q: What questions should employers and brokers ask before choosing a data warehouse and analytics services vendor?
A: They should seek partners with deep subject matter expertise—not just those who display data in dashboards, but those who can interpret it into meaningful strategies. Workpartners is uniquely positioned as both a data analytics provider and a benefits carrier, allowing it to activate insights through programs and services. This dual capability helps employers determine the right mix of benefits and services to support the workforce while managing costs.
AI in Health Care: Innovation Meets Privacy Concerns
Artificial intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing health care by enabling faster diagnosis, personalized treatment plans, and predictive analytics based on member data. From analyzing medical records to integrating wearable device data, AI systems are helping providers identify risks earlier and improve outcomes. However, as health care organizations increasingly rely on AI to process sensitive health information, concerns about privacy, transparency, and ethical use are growing. According to Stanford’s Human-Centered AI Institute, the scale and opacity of AI systems make it difficult for individuals to know how their data is collected, used, or shared. AI tools trained on vast datasets—including medical records, pharmacy claims, and even social media—can inadvertently expose personal information or reinforce biases.1
To help ease public concerns about AI and data privacy in health care, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services encourages organizations to adopt recognized security certifications that demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding sensitive health information. These certifications provide structured frameworks for implementing administrative, physical, and technical safeguards—ensuring compliance with federal mandates like the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA).2
At Workpartners, we take data security and the handling of sensitive health information very seriously. As part of our commitment to privacy and compliance, we consistently maintain HITRUST Certification—a widely recognized and rigorous standard for data protection in health care. This certification reinforces our dedication to maintaining the highest standards in data governance, giving our clients and their members confidence that their information is secure, responsibly managed, and used only to deliver meaningful, personalized insights.
